The Sprouts had carried a story titled “ Pure Cheating of Consumers by Haldiram, No orange in “Santra Burfee”, in its March 31, 2022 issue exposing the cheating by Haldiram which has been dumping the sweet meat made of artificial essence.
The Special Investigation Team of Sprouts had claimed that Nagpur’s Haldiram orange burfee neither carries the orange pulp nor flavored pumpkin pieces.
The box of the burfee carries a prominent title “Orange Burfee”. The details of the ingredients are printed on the reverse of the pack. The pack shows the ingredients as “two % orange pulp”. The sugar, pumpkin and chemicals are the other ingredients.
The Sprouts has obtained the information under RTI, about the fraudulent manufacturing practices adopted by Haldiram. The Food And Drugs Administration has given a report of the analysis of the product, which states that the burfee doesn’t carry either orange, or orange pulp or the pumpkin.
In short, the list provided by Haldiram about ingredients is misleading and the company has been cheating consumers. The company has been selling its product, made of artificial sweeteners, packed in an attractive and elegant pack. In addition, Haldiram’s orange burfee is full of refined sugar in bulk. Consumers are certain to attract diabetes with this disproportionate sugar.
Not only orange Burfee, but Haldiram has also been cheating consumers with other fake products. But due to money deals between the Haldiran and corrupt FDA officials, the cheating of consumers has been going on for years together.
Social worker Sanjeevkumar Sadanand has demanded an inquiry into all the products of Haldiram and immediate dismissal of Assistant Commissioner, FDA A P Deshpande in this case.
